Residents are served by Owen Cross Roads Elementary (K-8) and Hampton Cove Elementary School, Hampton Cove or Huntsville Middle School, and Huntsville or New Hope High School. Located along the Flint River in southeast Huntsville, Alabama, the Goldsmith-Schiffman Wildlife Sanctuary presents 375 acres of hardwood, open fiends and farmland housing a variety of habitats and birds. More than three miles of rustic trails wind through, taking visitors to ponds, swamps, and the banks of the Flint River. Monte Sano State Park is a 2,140-acre mountaintop retreat rising more than 1,600 feet above sea level. Combining 1930s cottages with the convenience of a city park, Monte Sano provides over 20 miles of scenic hiking trails, an 8-mile mountain bike trail, picnic areas, modern campsites and quaint, rustic cottages. Stretching 75 miles in northeastern Alabama along the banks of the Tennessee River sits Lake Guntersville. The Guntersville Resort State Park, just 15 miles south of Owens Cross Roads, presents a 69,000-acre reservoir that is home to fishing, swimming and boating, as well as an 18-hole golf course, beach complex, hiking trails and more.
